Happy 2nd Birthday to our baby boy!...What?! 2 Years has already gone by - my baby boy is growing so fast (tear). 8/18/08 - Parker was born on lucky 8's, hard to believe this day 2 whole years ago I became a mommy for the 1st time, I was scared, tired, excited, scared, happy, did I say scared yet? Then since that fatefull day 2 years ago, I've become a mommy for the 2nd time, (much less scared the 2nd time around, by the way). Having children is the best thing I ever did, & the hardest thing I've ever done. I don't know that there is anything that has quite that level of "best" & "hardest" at the same time. I've said this before, but you don't get how much your parents love you until you have a child of your own. It is so amazing to see him grow & learn everyday. Everything new he does makes me want to cry, partly because he's so amazing (this little person grew in my belly?!), & partly because every milestone he meets means that he is getting a little older. Now, I know two is still teeny-weeny but you know what I mean...
Short story from my childhood - I can remember standing in the kitchen of our 1st house (so I was probably 5 or 6) & my Mom said "ohh, don't grow any bigger, stay this age forever" & I wanted to stay young for the rest of my childhood because she was so sweetly sad when she said that. I really didn't ever desire to get to that next number that every other kid wants to be... 10, 13, 16, and so on. Not sure when I did want to get another year older, I'm guessing it was 21... And after 21 I was back to not wanting to be a year older. And I say that same thing to Parker all the time, "stay this age forever". Will I create that same complex for him? Sweet baby boy.
Snap out of it Erika! OK, so Parker had so much fun at his backyard Beach Party on Saturday & a fun day today (his real birthday) with Mommy, Daddy, & Sissy. He is wiped out from all this partying. Whew!
